Writing and programming case styles

Writing modes include sentence, title, upper and lower case. Programming modes tokenize the input and join normalized words with capitals or separators. Common outputs include camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE.

Case-conversion example

tool hub engine becomes Tool Hub Engine in title case, toolHubEngine in camel case and tool_hub_engine in snake case.

How tokenization works

Programming styles split text at spaces, punctuation and many existing case boundaries before rebuilding the words. Locale-aware Unicode casing is used when the browser supports it. The operation changes presentation, not spelling, grammar or meaning.

Choose the right case for the destination

Sentence case is useful for ordinary labels and paragraphs. Title case suits many headings but may need house-style edits. Developers often use camelCase for variables, PascalCase for class names, snake_case in data fields and kebab-case in URL slugs. Naming rules vary between languages, frameworks and teams, so treat the converted result as a clean starting point and follow the convention required by the destination.

Title case needs human review

Automatic title case cannot know every editorial style, acronym, company name or intentionally unusual capitalization. Review terms such as iPhone, eBay, API and country-specific names after conversion.

Important limitations

  • Acronyms: automatic rules may change desired capitalization.
  • Languages: upper/lower behavior can differ by locale and browser.
  • Punctuation: programming styles may remove or replace separators.
  • No rewriting: the tool does not correct grammar, paraphrase sentences or detect AI writing.
