How to create a QR code
- 1
Select the content type, such as URL, text, Wi-Fi, contact, email, phone, SMS or location.
- 2
Enter the exact destination or information you want the code to contain.
- 3
Choose size, margin, foreground color, background color and error-correction level.
- 4
Generate the QR code and scan the preview with more than one device.
- 5
Download PNG for common image use or SVG for scalable print and design work.
What information can a QR code contain?
A QR code can store plain text or structured text that a phone understands. A URL code opens a web address. A Wi-Fi code can present the network name, security type and password to a compatible scanner. Contact, email, phone and SMS modes format their fields for the relevant phone action.
The code contains the exact information entered. It does not create a short link, host a landing page or make the destination editable after download. If the destination may change, use a URL that you control and can redirect later.
QR code example
Choose the URL type and enter https://example.com/menu. Keep a dark foreground on a light background, generate the code and test it at the final printed size. A successful preview scan does not guarantee that a tiny or low-contrast print will scan.
PNG or SVG: which should you download?
PNG is a pixel image and works well for websites, documents and social graphics at a known size. SVG is vector-based, so it can scale for signs, cards and packaging without becoming blurry. Some publishing systems restrict SVG uploads; use PNG there.
Color, size and error correction
- Contrast: dark modules on a light background are the safest starting point.
- Quiet zone: keep a clear margin around the code so scanners can find its edges.
- Density: long text creates a denser matrix and may need a larger display or print size.
- Error correction: higher levels add redundancy but can also increase density.
Important safety note
Anyone who scans the code can read or open its contents. Do not place private passwords, personal records or sensitive information in a public QR code. For Wi-Fi codes, share the downloaded image only with intended users.

QR Code Generator FAQ
Is this QR code generator free to use?
Yes. You can create and download supported QR codes without signing up.
Can I create a QR code for Wi-Fi?
Yes. Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name, security option and password, then test the generated code on a compatible phone.
Can I make a QR code with a logo?
This version supports colors, size, margin and error correction but does not place a logo inside the code.
Do QR codes expire?
The generated code itself does not expire. A linked page can stop working if its URL changes, the domain expires or access is removed.
Why will my QR code not scan?
Common causes include low contrast, a missing margin, dense content, damage, glare or displaying the image too small.
Is the QR code data uploaded?
No. Encoding and download preparation occur in your browser and the payload is not uploaded by this tool.
