What is APR?

APR expresses a yearly borrowing rate. This calculator uses the entered rate for amortization and shows origination fees separately, so it does not derive a regulatory disclosure APR.

What is an origination fee?

An origination fee is an upfront lender charge. When withheld from proceeds, you receive less than the face amount but repay the full principal.

How does interest cost work?

Each payment first covers accrued interest; the remainder reduces principal. Extra principal payments can shorten payoff time and reduce interest.

Why does loan term matter?

A longer term generally lowers the required payment but usually increases total interest when rate and principal stay the same.

Results are informational estimates and are not lending, legal, or financial advice.

Your values stay in browser memory. The calculator does not check credit, contact lenders, predict approval or provide a regulated APR disclosure.

How to calculate a personal-loan payment

  1. 1

Choose whether to calculate payment from a loan amount or estimate an amount from a desired payment.

  2. 2

Enter the fixed annual interest rate and repayment term.

  3. 3

Add an origination or processing fee and choose how it affects proceeds or financing.

  4. 4

Run the calculation and compare payment, interest, fees, total cost and cash received.

  5. 5

Change one input at a time to compare realistic lender offers on equal terms.

Monthly payment and net proceeds are different

A personal loan may be approved for one amount while an upfront fee reduces the money deposited to you. If $15,000 is approved and a $300 origination fee is withheld, net proceeds are $14,700 even if repayment is based on the full $15,000. That distinction matters when the loan is intended to cover a specific purchase or balance.

Personal-loan example

Suppose you borrow $15,000 for three years at a fixed 11% annual rate. The estimated monthly payment is about $491 before lender-specific charges. An upfront $300 fee reduces usable proceeds to $14,700, so compare the amount received as well as the repayment total.

Estimating a loan from a desired payment

The target-payment mode rearranges the fixed-rate payment formula. For a chosen rate and term, it estimates the principal that fits the payment limit. This is useful for planning, but it is not an affordability or eligibility decision because a lender may consider income, debts, credit history and local rules.

How to compare personal loans

  • Use the same term: different terms make monthly payments difficult to compare directly.
  • Check fee treatment: confirm whether a fee is deducted, paid separately or added to the financed balance.
  • Review total repayment: a comfortable payment can still create a high total cost.
  • Read prepayment terms: early-repayment charges can change the value of paying extra.

Location and bank limitations

The calculator does not import current personal-loan offers from HBL, UBL, Bank Alfalah, Meezan Bank, Faysal Bank or another provider. Enter the rate and charges shown in the lender’s own documents.

What an extra monthly payment changes

An extra payment reduces the modeled principal after the scheduled payment. That can shorten the payoff period and reduce future interest. Ask the lender whether extra money is applied directly to principal and whether an early-settlement charge or special instruction applies.

Personal Loan Calculator FAQ

How is a personal-loan payment calculated?

A fixed-rate amortization formula uses principal, periodic interest rate and number of payments to estimate the regular payment.

What are net loan proceeds?

Net proceeds are the funds available after any upfront fee is deducted. They may be lower than the principal used to calculate repayment.

Can I calculate how much I can borrow from a monthly budget?

Yes. Use the target-payment mode with a rate and term. Treat the result as a planning amount, not a lending decision.

Does this show APR?

It shows modeled interest and fee effects, but it is not a lender-compliant APR disclosure. Confirm the official APR and fee treatment in the loan documents.

Does the calculator check credit or approval?

No. It does not access credit data or lender systems and cannot predict eligibility, pricing or approval.

Can I use a currency other than dollars?

Yes. Use the same currency for every money input. The calculator does not convert exchange rates.
