What the projection includes
The model grows the current balance, adds annual employee contributions and applies employer matching from the values entered. Salary-based contributions can rise when you include annual pay growth. The result separates money added from modeled investment growth, which makes the projection easier to understand.
Retirement savings example
A person age 35 has $60,000 saved and earns $70,000. They contribute 8% of salary and model a 4% employer contribution. Comparing retirement at 60, 65 and 67 shows how additional contribution years and compounding can change the ending balance.
Nominal value and today’s purchasing power
A future balance may look large because prices and wages can rise over time. The inflation-adjusted result translates the modeled future amount into today’s purchasing power using the inflation assumption. It is not a forecast of actual prices, but it helps compare long-term scenarios more realistically.
Choosing an expected return
No single rate is certain. Market returns can be negative in some years and strong in others. Fees, taxes and the timing of contributions also affect results. Test a range of returns and avoid treating a high historical average as a guaranteed future outcome.
Important retirement-planning limitations
- Pension rules: the tool does not calculate a government pension or location-specific retirement benefit.
- Contribution limits: local legal limits and account rules may not be enforced.
- Employer match: eligibility, caps and vesting differ between employers.
- Withdrawals: retirement spending, taxes and sequence-of-returns risk need separate planning.
This is not a Pakistan government retirement calculator, a Canadian pension calculator or an official 401(k) statement. Enter your own plan assumptions and verify them with the appropriate provider.
Contributions versus investment growth
The projection separates the balance you already have, future contributions and modeled growth. This helps show whether a larger result comes from saving more or assuming a higher return. Increasing contributions is under your control; market performance is not. Employer contributions can also depend on continued employment and plan eligibility.

How much should I save for retirement?
There is no universal amount. Build scenarios using your expected spending, retirement age, other income and a range of return and inflation assumptions.

What is an inflation-adjusted retirement balance?
It expresses the modeled future balance in approximate current purchasing power using the inflation rate you enter.
Does the calculation guarantee investment growth?
No. The return is an assumption. Actual investments can rise or fall and may include fees and taxes.
Can I compare different retirement ages?
