Mode: Editable Word Document. Complex layouts, unusual fonts, forms, images, and scanned documents may require manual adjustment.

Conversion result

A short text preview will appear after the PDF is analyzed.

This best-effort converter focuses on editable text. Advanced tables, page images, forms, links, attachments, and exact fixed-layout fidelity are not preserved.

Your PDF is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded or stored by this tool.

Local file processing

This ToolHub converter processes the selected PDF in your browser and does not upload it to the ToolHub server. Review the downloaded DOCX before relying on it.

How to convert PDF to Word

  1. 1

Select a PDF that contains selectable text. If you can highlight words in a normal PDF viewer, the document is a better candidate.

  2. 2

Wait while the tool checks the file and reads its pages. The displayed 25 MB and 200-page limits apply.

  3. 3

Review any validation message. A scanned or image-only PDF needs OCR, which this converter does not include.

  4. 4

Run the conversion and download the generated DOCX file.

  5. 5

Open the document in Word or another DOCX editor and check headings, lists, tables, columns and page breaks.

How the conversion works

The browser validates the PDF and loads the bundled PDF.js worker only when it is needed. PDF.js extracts text together with page coordinates. ToolHub groups those positioned text items into useful paragraphs, headings, lists and other structures, then creates an OOXML Word document in the browser.

A PDF describes how a page should be drawn, while a Word document describes editable document flow. That difference means a converted DOCX cannot always match the original page exactly. Simple reports, letters and text documents usually give cleaner results than brochures, forms or highly designed multi-column pages.

Text PDF versus scanned PDF

Text PDF: a report with selectable headings and paragraphs can become editable text in a DOCX. Scanned PDF: a page stored only as a photograph contains no selectable text for this tool to extract, so conversion is disabled and OCR is required.

What may need manual correction?

  • Complex tables and columns may not keep the same reading order.
  • Unusual or embedded fonts may be replaced by fonts available in the Word editor.
  • Forms, links, page images, headers, footers and exact pagination may need adjustment.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before conversion.
  • Right-to-left and Unicode text should be reviewed carefully even when extracted successfully.

Best way to get a cleaner DOCX

Start with the original digital PDF when possible, not a screenshot or scan. Use a document with clear text and a simple reading order. After conversion, compare the DOCX with the source page by page. For a complex legal, academic or business document, keep the original PDF as the visual reference.

PDF to Word Converter FAQ

How do I convert a PDF to editable Word?

Select a text-based PDF, run the conversion, download the DOCX and review it in a Word-compatible editor.

Will the DOCX keep the exact PDF formatting?

Not always. PDF uses positioned page elements, while DOCX uses flowing document structure. Complex layouts usually need more manual correction.

Can this convert a scanned PDF?

No OCR is included. If the PDF page is only an image and has no selectable text, it cannot be turned into editable words by this tool.

Are my PDF files uploaded?

No. This ToolHub converter processes the file locally in your browser and does not upload it to the ToolHub server.

What are the file limits?

The tool displays a maximum of 25 MB and 200 pages. Your browser memory and device performance can also affect large conversions.

Why are tables or columns out of order?

PDF text is stored by page position, not as a Word-style reading flow. Reconstructing complex columns and tables is therefore best effort.
