Choose selected pages, ranges, regular intervals or equal parts.

  3. 3

Enter page instructions using the PDF order, starting at page 1.

  4. 4

Run the split and review how many output files were created.

  5. 5

Download one PDF directly or open the ZIP containing multiple outputs.

Ways to separate PDF pages

Selected-page mode creates an output from specific page numbers. Range mode groups pages into chosen sections. Interval mode can separate a document every fixed number of pages, while equal-parts mode divides it into a chosen number of balanced sections.

Split-PDF example

For a twelve-page document, entering 1-3, 7, 10-12 selects pages 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 11 and 12. Depending on the selected split mode, those pages can form one output or several files.

How the local split works

The bundled pdf-lib runtime copies selected page objects into new PDF documents. When several outputs are required, the local fflate library packages them into a ZIP so the browser can download them together.

The tool uses page order, not printed labels. A document can display Roman numerals or custom page numbers while the first PDF page is still page 1 in the tool.

Extracting pages versus deleting pages

Splitting creates new files from selected sections. If the goal is to remove, reorder, rotate or duplicate pages in one document, Organize PDF provides a more visual workflow.

Important limitations

  • Protection: encrypted or malformed PDFs may be rejected.
  • Interactive data: forms, annotations, attachments and automatic actions are removed from new outputs.
  • File names: open the ZIP and confirm that each part contains the expected pages.
  • Original safety: keep the source until every split file has been checked.
